DownshiftFocus privacy policy
Last updated: September 9, 2026
DownshiftFocus is a Chrome extension made by DownshiftByDesign. It hides comment sections and distracting cards in YouTube Studio and on YouTube. It works by applying style rules inside your own browser. Nothing is deleted. Turn a switch off and the item comes back.
This policy covers the extension only. The legal page covers this website.
What we collect
Nothing. The extension does not collect any personal information. It does not record your browsing activity. It does not read or store the content of the pages you visit. It does not send anything to us or to anyone else.
What the extension does not do
- It does not sign in to your Google or YouTube account.
- It does not request account or API access.
- It does not make network requests of its own.
- It contains no analytics, tracking, or advertising.
- It loads no remote code.
Your settings
The extension saves your switch preferences with Chrome’s built in storage. Each preference is a simple on or off value. These values contain no personal data. If you are signed in to Chrome, Chrome may sync them to your other devices. That sync happens inside your Google account and is managed by Chrome, not by us. Removing the extension deletes the preferences.
Permissions
- storage: saves your switch preferences.
- studio.youtube.com and www.youtube.com: applies the hiding styles on those two sites. The extension does not run anywhere else.
Children
The extension collects no data from anyone, including children.
